Embracing a New Identity: The Story Behind Our Rebranding to Gemini Entertainment

In the past decade, Pogo Bros Entertainment has grown from a small venture into a vibrant entertainment company. Founded by brothers Roy and John Pogorzelski, our mission was simple: to create spaces where people can unwind, laugh, and have a great time. We started with beer gardens, karaoke, and pub games like trivia and “Name That Tune.” Soon after, we expanded our offerings to include DJ and emcee services, becoming a staple in Lethbridge and Coaldale.

The Birth of Oktoberfest YQL

One of our proudest achievements has been Oktoberfest YQL, which we launched in 2014. This event has evolved along with us, moving from Festival Square to Galt Gardens, then indoors to Exhibition Park, and finally back outdoors to the redesigned Festival Square in 2022. This year, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Oktoberfest YQL, marking a significant milestone in our journey.

Why We Rebranded

As our company grew, so did our vision. We expanded from local pubs to corporate parties, weddings, and private events. This broader scope made us realize that our brand needed to evolve too. The addition of two new partners, Jerry and Devon Firth, also played a role in our decision to rebrand. With two sets of brothers now leading the company, we knew it was time for a change.

The Creation of Gemini Entertainment

The rebranding process took time. We brainstormed names, designed logos, and debated color schemes. The name “Gemini” came up during one of our staff parties—a place where many of our best ideas are born. One of our team members, who is a Gemini, suggested it, and it resonated with all of us. Gemini, representing twins, felt perfect for a company led by two sets of brothers.

Once we chose the name, everything else fell into place. Our new logo features two microphones, symbolizing the twin effect. Above them are four stars—two larger ones for Roy and John and two smaller ones for Jerry and Devon. The color scheme keeps the sky blue from our Pogo Bros days, with a light purple gradient and navy blue background added.
